Capacity to accept and treat 20,000 tonnes of hazardous waste
We accept hazardous waste from the following sectors:
- Pharmaceutical
- Medical Device
- Automotive
- Aeronautical
- Industrial and Manufacturing
- Engineering
- Education including second level and higher education
We accept over 400 different types of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
Soltec has the capacity to accept and treat over 469 different categories of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Our technical team will assess and collect your waste materials ensuring full compliance with ADR regulations, EPA licence requirements and waste collection permit regulations. Once the material is on site, our laboratory team will conduct an analysis to determine the most efficient and environmentally productive treatment method. This could involve solvent distillation, fuel recovery or aerosol recycling [link to ‘solvent recovery and recycling’ and ‘aerosol recycling’]. The treatment process that Soltec applies ensures that over 90% of the waste we receive is recovered and recycled into new products which supports our commitment to the circular economy. Waste materials which Soltec are unable to recover onsite will be sent for specialised treatment with our approved European partners.

State-of-the-art waste and recovery facilities
Soltec has engaged in an ambitious €6 million investment programme to expand our waste and recovery services. In 2019, we secured a second Industrial Emissions Licence from the Environmental Protection Authority. We opened our new treatment facility and tank farm in 2021. This new facility has allowed us to increase our capacity by 500% and provide an enhanced number of specialised services to our clientele.
Sustainable solutions for the circular economy
Soltec is committed to providing cost effective and environmentally sustainable solutions to the treatment of hazardous waste. Our solvent distillation capacity means that we can produce reusable solvents that can re-enter the economy. This replaces the market need for virgin solvents. In addition, through our distillation process we create Liquid Recovered Fuel from residual waste that would otherwise be incinerated. Our annual recovery rate equates to 4,597 tonnes of net carbon savings.
In 2023, we invested in a renewable energy project to ensure that the energy expended to conduct our treatment processes is environmentally friendly. Through investing in a vast solar array and energy efficient equipment, we can now recover and recycle using energy generated through natural resources. Over 70% of the electrical energy we expend in the treatment and recovery of waste at our facility is generated from our extensive solar array.
