Soltec recycles the liquid and the metal from used aerosol cans
At Soltec, we offer an aerosol can recycling service for clients across a wide range of industries, from the education to the pharmaceutical sector. We provide our clients with a safe and environmentally sound method of disposing of this waste.
Due to the hazardous ingredients contained within aerosol cans, it is important that they are treated as a dangerous good in the workplace and when necessary, these products should be disposed of in a manner that is safe and secure.
Soltec provides a collection and recycling service to its customers that ensures the safe recycling of aerosol cans at our newly developed and EPA-licenced waste treatment facility. Liquid retrieval from these aerosol cans is recovered into industrial fuel. Metal from the tin can is recycled into new metal products and the gas emitted from the can is absorbed into active carbon.
The aerosol service and treatment process
- Our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSA) will conduct an on-site assessment and our licenced transport operatives will then collect the aerosol cans.
- Once these aerosol cans have been delivered to Soltec, we inspect and classify the material to determine the safest method to recycle the cans.
- The cans will then be processed through the aerosol recovery station, separating the liquid from the metal.
- The liquid is then recycled into an industrial fuel for the cement industry which allows it to re-enter the economy, providing carbon savings and eliminating waste that would otherwise be incinerated.
- We also ensure that the metal is recycled through sending it to an EPA-licenced facility.
