Award wins recognise leadership in circular, low‑carbon waste solutions for Ireland’s pharmaceutical and high‑tech sectors
As economies intensify their focus on circularity and carbon reduction, Soltec (Ireland) Ltd is closing out 2025 with a sweep of national honours that underline its growing influence in sustainable waste management.
Our CEO, David Corcoran, has been awarded the Ernst & Young Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2025 recognising Soltec’s leadership in developing innovative, low‑carbon recycling pathways for hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
At a ceremony held at the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, David accepted the award noting that this was a “milestone that reflects the company’s long‑standing commitment to innovation and its transformative impact on high‑waste, highly regulated industries.”
Accepting the award, David remarked: “I’m truly honoured to receive the Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 award. This recognition means so much not just for me, but for Soltec, where sustainability isn’t a buzzword, it’s the heartbeat of everything we do. From hazardous waste recycling to driving circular economy innovation, our entire team is focused on delivering real, measurable environmental impact.”
This latest award follows a bumper year for Soltec in terms of national recognition. The company was also the recipient of the Excellence in Business Waste Management Solutions Award 2025, recognising its leadership in developing innovative, low-carbon recycling pathways for hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Soltec was also awarded the Mullingar Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Sustainability and Climate Action Award 2025 and was a finalist in the Repak Waste Recycling and Recovery Facility of the Year 2025.
From its origins as a small, local business founded by Michael Corcoran in the 1990s, Soltec has grown into a national leader in hazardous waste recycling and resource recovery. The company’s 2025 awards recognise not only individual achievement, but the collective impact of sustained investment in circular economy infrastructure.
Looking ahead, David Corcoran sees Soltec’s role as extending well beyond compliance or waste disposal.
“My vision for Soltec was to carve out a space in the hazardous waste sector where we give customers sustainable and practical solutions,” he said. “Today, that vision is delivering real results, not only in revenue and profits, but in something bigger than business: moving us beyond the ‘waste era’ and transforming hazardous waste into a resource that serves the public good. At Soltec, we’re proving that recycling isn’t just good for the environment – it’s a viable, profitable business model.”
